Steam or Gas Sterilizers

Autoclaves are one of the most used items of equipment in veterinary practice today. Sterilisation of surgical packs by steam under pressure has now been enhanced by the introduction of vacuum technology to ensure improved efficiency of the process. Gas sterilisation has also become increasingly popular because of heat sensitive plastic medical devices, larger instruments, endoscopes etc that could lose structural integrity if sterilised by heat.

It is worth noting that not all sterilization packaging is suitable for use in gas systems .

Only packaging which clearly indicates suitability for ethylene oxide processing should be employed as not all packaging will allow penetration of the gas.
